Periplus Workshop

Design Program in Chania, Greece

The workshop aimed to repurpose overlooked materials like avocado peels, tomato skin, and cherub seeds for the Chania community. My focus was on creating unique rings inspired by jewelry making. Starting with simple designs using slender cane pieces, I progressed to intricate patterns. Cherub seeds became a central element, their yellow pigment extracted for some designs. Tomato skin mixed with resin added color, replacing traditional gemstones in one ring. I carved wave-like patterns in cane, incorporating cherub seeds, tomato skin peel, and wine mud in unconventional gem settings. The rings were dipped in resin for durability and a glossy finish, reshaping my perception of materials.
